You were there when I first saw the light of day
You were there when I first uttered a word to say
You were there when I first took a step with a sway
You were there to wipe my first tears away!
A whole lifetime of living and loving
Of thanksgiving and praying
Seems not enough to pay
For the whole time of caring and sacrificing
For us, your children,
Who were not really the best kids along the way.
Yet many years have passed
I can still gladly say
That you are the best parents I could ever have
And I am indeed glad
That God made it that way!
