Marami ang nagsasabi na ang pagsusugpo ay nakakasira ng kalikasan. Maari nga na ganyan ang sitwasyon dati. Ngunit sa ngayon, marami na ring mga aksyon upang maiwasan ang pagsisira sa ating kalikasan. Isa nito ay ang pag-gamit ng putik galing sa pala-sugpuan bilang pampataba ng mga halaman lalo na mga gulay at prutas. Shrimp farming has had many detractors, blaming it for the destruction of nature and the environment. It might be true in some areas many years ago.
